At SwimAbout we place great significance on 4 specific principles. These principles run through each & every lesson, each & every teacher and each & every parent & child.
They are
Safety – integral to every lesson. With this principle at the core of all that we do then the following three values can flourish.
Confidence – an important part of the teacher/pupil relationship is instilling confidence into the swimmer. Confidence breeds success!!!
Understanding – we put quite a lot of emphasis on the importance for the swimmer to understand why & what they are doing, i.e. explanations of certain movements or the idea behind the strokes. If you understand the concepts of swimming you will become a better more proficient swimmer.
Enjoyment – used to engage the pupil within a lesson and helps encourage & motivate the swimmer when in an unfamiliar environment.
Benefits of Swimming
The affects of regular swimming activity has been medically proven to have a number of physical and mental benefits.The benefits include;
- Regular swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardio-vascular fitness.
- It Improves self esteem, confidence & social skills.
- Low impact sport – ideal for regaining fitness after injury.
One of the biggest killers of the modern age is lack of exercise. It’s as simple as that. By taking even moderate exercise on a regular basis our immune system is strengthened - and we cut the risk of heart disease, stroke, blood vessel disorders, angina; the list goes on. The key word here is regular: all exercise is good, but regular moderate exercise has a greater effect on your overall health than occasional bursts of lung-busting activity. In short, be as active as you can, as often as possible – and KEEP IT GOING!!!
Swimming provides individuals with several physical, social and mental benefits. Some of them include improved strength and flexibility, enhanced muscular stamina and balance, a stronger heart, and better physique or figure. Apart from this, swimming also works as a fast and effective remedy for healing muscles.
